24日上午，國務院新聞辦公室舉行第一次全國地理國情普查(national geoinformation survey)工作和公報發布會(press briefing)。此次普查歷時3年多，投入5萬人，使用了遙感衛星(remote sensing satellite)、無人機(drone, unmanned aerial vehicles)、三維激光掃描(3D laser scanning)車等技術手段，查清了我國自然、人文地理要素的現狀及空間分布情況。為最大限度提高地理國情普查精準度，普查部門一方面采用"衛星+航空攝影"(satellite and aerial photography)相結合的方式，獲取優于1米分辨率(resolution)的高精度遙感影像，另一方面實施人工野外實地核查(on-site verification)，進一步提高普查質量。

國家測繪地理信息局局長庫熱西·買合蘇提介紹稱，普查獲得的地理信息一方面囊括了我國地表自然資源(natural resources)要素基本情況，包括耕地(arable land)、林地、草地、湖泊、荒漠和裸露地表(deserts and bare lands)、冰川(glacier)等的位置、范圍、面積(location, range and area)等信息；另一方面也查清了與人類活動相關的交通網絡(traffic network)、居民地與設施(residential land and facilities)、地理單元(geographical unit)等人文地理要素基本情況，掌握了其類別和位置。

據了解，地理國情普查的相關數據從一開始就向公共部門(public departments)開放，打破部門、區域之間的數據壁壘(barrier)，以提供更優質的公共服務(public service)產品。目前，普查和監測成果已在精準扶貧(targeted poverty alleviation)、不動產統一登記(unified property registration)、重點城市黑臭水體(black and odorous bodies of water)整治、打擊違法用地(illegal land use)違法建設專項行動等領域和地名、農業等普查中發揮了重要作用(play an important role)。
