North China’s Shanxi province is vying for top personnel to assist in its continuing development. In a bid to attract more overseas professionals to work in the province or start their own businesses, the Shanxi provincial government launched a “One Hundred People” initiative to attract high-quality personnel from abroad to the province. Fourteen top-level professionals were selected in the first round of the program, each entitled to a one-million yuan subsidy along with fine working and living conditions. Personnel sought include those who want to start businesses and help promote the industrial transformation of Shanxi, those with independent intellectual property rights and people who have made breakthroughs in technological innovation. Candidates should have a PhD from overseas. They should be experts and scholars who have the title of deputy professor or above at renowned foreign universities and research institutes, or be top technology and management executives from reputable international enterprises and financial institutions or have abundant startup experience overseas.
