Blast at residential compound leaves 17 injured in Shanxi


An explosion in Shanxi province has left 17 people injured, four of them critically, according to a report by Xinhua News Agency on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at Fengjing Jiayuan residential compound in the Xiaodian district of Taiyuan city. Firefighters quickly responded to the scene after receiving emergency calls at around 1 pm.
As for the injured, three individuals have already been discharged after receiving treatment, while rescue operations are still ongoing, said Xinhua.
Wang Xiangxi, minister of Emergency Management, has dispatched a team to the site to oversee the rescue efforts. He emphasized the need for full-scale firefighting, a comprehensive investigation, and maximum efforts to save those injured, according to multiple media reports.
Local fire and rescue teams have mobilized 210 personnel and deployed 43 vehicles to the scene.
