Peking Opera Film Project, a national-level program aimed at preserving traditional art through cinema, announced on Monday the release of 21 cinematic remakes of Peking Opera classics — the most since its launch in 2011.
A fashion show highlighting feminine elegance was held at the Yanqi Lake International Convention Center as a prelude to the ongoing 15th Beijing International Film Festival.
At the project pitch event, held from April 19 to 20 as part of the 15th Beijing International Film Festival's Next Frame Space unit, young directors rapidly flipped through PowerPoint slides on stage, delivering well-rehearsed presentations. Their goal: to capture the attention of judges and investors in the audience and to win support — whether in the form of funding, collaborators, or production resources.
The 15th Beijing International Film Festival opened in Huairou on Friday night. This year, it received 1,794 submissions from 103 countries and regions, up 18.9% from last year. The festival, running until April 26, will select 10 Tiantan Awards from 15 nominated films. Jurors shared their experiences and views. Also, there are tributes to cinematic masters, and the Beijing Film Panorama will screen about 300 films.
