Holloway breaks 27-year-old 60m hurdles world record

MADRID - World 110m hurdles champion Grant Holloway broke the 60m indoor hurdles world record here on Wednesday.
Holloway, who had run 7.32 seconds in the heats, ran 7.29 seconds to claim the title and lower the previous record of 7.30, set by Britain's Colin Jackson in 1994.
"I wouldn't say it was a perfect race, but I tied my PR in the heat and that usually means I run faster in the final," the 23-year-old American was quoted as saying by World Athletics.
"The world record outdoors [12.80 seconds] is definitely in my sights, but I want to let all this soak in first, then my priority is to win the Olympic Trials and then the Olympic gold medal," he added.
Holloway is undefeated in 41 races over 60 metres since making his senior hurdles debut just over four years ago.
